Tituss Burgess Kicks Off Billboard Pride Prom With ‘Dance M.F.’

Just because he’s stuck in quarantine, don’t think Tituss Burgess is using that as an excuse to half ass things for his performance at Billboard’s Pride Prom on Saturday (June 13). In fact, the “Dance M.F.” video he sent in for Pride Prom has a lot of ass. The clip is an ’80s fever dream, mixing a washed-out galactic background, VHS fuzz, greased up dancers and Richard Simmons-styled movement clothes. It all adds up to a beautifully absurd clip for a dance bop that’s honestly pretty uplifting.

“It’s okay to be anxious, it’s okay to have a little fear, just don’t let that sh-t overtake you — because guess what? You’re still here,” Burgess intones as someone fixes his purple wig. With the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star’s unapologetic self on full display, “Dance M.F.” featuring Imani Coppola is an ode to seeking your best self when the world gets you down.

Although the song was written before the pandemic and national protests over police violence, Burgess told Billboard he hopes people find some solace in its message of “just do you.”
