Swift tops all three rankings (dated Aug. 8) as her surprise new album Folklore launches atop the Billboard 200 with 846,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending July 30, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. The sum is the biggest in a single week for any album since Swift’s last LP, Lover, in September 2019.
Plus, Folklore single “Cardigan” blasts in at No. 1 on the Hot 100, as Swift becomes the first act ever to debut at No. 1 on both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 in the same week. Meanwhile, all 16 songs on the standard edition of Folklore enter the Hot 100.
Swift spends a record-extending 38th week at No. 1 on Artist 100, leading for the first time since Sept. 7, 2019, when Lover made its chart entrance. Drake has spent the second-most weeks atop the Artist 100 (31).
Dating to the Artist 100’s launch in 2014, only eight artists have led the Artist 100, Hot 100 and Billboard 200 at the same time. Drake has achieved the feat in a record 14 weeks (most recently on Aug. 11, 2018, with Scorpion atop the Billboard 200 and “In My Feelings” atop the Hot 100), followed by Swift (eight), Adele (six), Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd (two apiece) and Camila Cabello and Kendrick Lamar (one each).
Swift is the first artist to complete the trifecta since The Weeknd (After Hours, “Blinding Lights”) on April 25. She had last tripled up on Jan. 10, 2015 (1989, “Blank Space”).
Among other Artist 100 chart moves, Logic re-enters at No. 2, as his new album No Pressure arrives at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 221,000 units. The rapper has spent one week at No. 1 on the Artist 100, in March 2018.
The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
