Seven must be Taylor Hanson’s lucky number because he and his wife, Natalie, welcomed baby No. 7 — a girl named Maybellene Alma Joy Hanson — on Dec. 7.
“Meet our baby girl Maybellene Alma Joy, born Dec 7th 2020. 7 is a beautiful number,” he announced on Instagram Thursday (Dec. 17), alongside a picture of him holding the newest addition to his family. Maybellene joins her older siblings Jordan (18), Penelope (15), River (14), Viggo (12), Wilhelmina (8), and Claude, who will turn 2 on Dec. 26.
Natalie shared her own picture of the baby with a Christmas tree in the background.
The 37-year-old singer announced that he and Natalie, who have been married since 2002, were expecting their seventh baby in a sweet Instagram post back in September. “The best kind of unexpected. Number seven coming this December. #2020,” he wrote.
He told Today’s Parent in 2017 about the lessons he’s learned of being part of a big family. “I think what’s really cool about bigger families is that everybody develops this innate ability to figure out how to compromise, work with others and realize that the entire world doesn’t revolve around you,” he said at the time. “It also encourages you to be an individual because you can clearly see your differences from a brother or sister. I see that with my kids: They’re very different, but I see that they love and respect one another.
He’s famously one of three Hanson brothers — including Isaac and Zac — who ascended to pop stardom in the late ’90s. The Tulsa, Okla.-based trio topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1997 with their smash hit “MMMBop,” which also scored Grammy nominations for record of the year and best pop performance by a duo or group with vocal. Since then, they’ve formed their own families: Isaac and his wife, Nikki Dufresne, have three children, while Zac and his wife, Kate Tucker, have four.
