Ritt Momney Keeps Breaking ‘Records,’ Hits No. 1 on Emerging Artists Chart

Ritt Momney reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart (dated March 6), leading for the first time on the strength of his cover of Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On.”

The remake continues to scale the Billboard Hot 100 since it debuted in October, rising from No. 39 to a new No. 36 high on the latest list with 43.4 million radio audience impressions (up 9%), 4.3 million U.S. streams (up 9%) and 1,300 downloads sold (up 17%), according to MRC Data.

The single enters the top 10 of the all-format Radio Songs chart (13-9), as it rises 8-6 on Pop Airplay and 19-18 on Adult Pop Airplay. In October, it reached No. 32 on Alternative Airplay.

Bailey Rae’s original “Records” became a crossover hit after its 2006 release. It reached No. 6 on Adult Contemporary, No. 8 on Adult Alternative Airplay, No. 8 on Smooth Jazz Airplay and No. 64 on the Hot 100.

Ritt Momney (whose moniker is a play on Utah Senator Mitt Romney’s name) succeeds Niko Moon atop Emerging Artists, as the latter graduates from the chart after spending two weeks at No. 1 as his breakthrough single “Good Time” hits the top 25 of the Hot 100 (35-25). On Hot Country Songs, the track returns to its No. 3 high.

Among other Emerging Artists moves, Clinton Kane debuts at No. 11, thanks to his track “Chicken Tendies.” It debuts at No. 88 on the Hot 100, becoming his first entry on the chart, with 5.5 million U.S. streams and 2,000 sold in its opening week.

The Emerging Artists chart measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay and streaming to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity. The chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard’s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.
