Halsey’s New Poetry Collection ‘I Would Leave Me If I Could’ Might Be the Perfect Stocking Stuffer

Halsey’s first book of original poetry, I Would Leave Me If I Could, is due out on Nov. 10. Publisher Simon & Schuster announced the release date on Thursday (June 25), promising that the Grammy-nominated singer bares her soul, delving into the “highs and lows of doomed relationships, family ties, sexuality and mental illness.”

“Poetry infuses everything Halsey does — from music to painting and performing — so it’s hardly a surprise she’s so gifted with verse,” said Stephanie Frerich, executive editor at Simon & Schuster in a statement about the 144-page book. “We were immediately captivated by her poems the way millions are by her music.” Halsey will read the audio version of the collection, and the book cover will feature her striking original painting “American Woman.”

The description promises “more hand-grenades than confessions,” and that the “autobiographical poems explore and dismantle conventional notions of what it means to be a feminist in search of power.”

In a post about the poetry collection, Halsey says, “I wrote a few thousand sentences but am somehow struggling to string together a single one to summarize how excited I am about this.” Click here to pre-order.
