Beyoncé sang, “Hips tick tock when I dance” when she hopped on Megan Thee Stallion’s No. 1 “Savage” remix, but that viral TikTok dance associated with the original hit didn’t come from either of them.

Ohio teenager Keara “Keke” Wilson created the “classy, bougie, ratchet/ sassy, moody, nasty” routine and garnered 1.1 million followers on the social media app as a result. But she’s not the only Black girl running the show.

Jalaiah Harmon is the youngest person on Billboard’s “10 TikTok Music Influencers You Need to Know” list after the 14-year-old Georgia teen reached peak TikTok stardom (and 2.4 million followers) with her “Renegade” dance to the tune of “Lottery” by K Camp.

American singer-songwriter mxmtoon lent her ukelele and singing skills to the platform after getting her start elsewhere — on YouTube. The California native, who also goes by Maia, also spreads positivity through comedy and awareness about gender, race and identity issues to her 1.7 million followers.
