Watch Haim Harmonize For Acoustic NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert

NPR aired a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert from L.A. trio Haim on Wednesday (June 17). The three sisters (Este, Danielle, and Alana) performed stripped-down versions of songs off their upcoming album, Women In Music, Part III, from their respective homes in the Silver Lake neighborhood.

The concert launched with the up-tempo single “The Steps” from their third studio album, set for release June 26. The sisters harmonized through the guitar-driven rock song, singing, “And every day I wake up and make money for myself/ And though we share a bed/ You know that I don’t need your help/ Do you understand?/ You don’t understand me.”

The sisters move to their keyboards to tackle one of their most recent releases, the electronic “I Know Alone.” The song was released on April 29 alongside a fittingly social-distanced dance music video.

After thanking NPR, Haim welcomes saxophonist Henry Solomon for the track “Summer Girl,” which delves into lead singer Danielle’s struggle to be present for her partner, who was battling cancer. The band has credited The Velvet Underground’s Lou Reed as inspiration for the warm summertime jam.
