BTS took to the Today stage on Thursday morning (Sept. 10) to perform their smash hit “Dynamite.”
For the performance, the K-pop idols dressed in coordinated denim looks, expertly running through the track’s disco-inspired choreography on a calming all-white set.
“‘Cause I’m in the stars tonight/ So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight/ Shining through the city with a little funk and soul/ So I’ma light it up like dynamite,” the septet sang on the chorus as they danced in ever-changing formations.
The band then followed up the number with a performance of deep cut “Anpanman” off their 2018 studio album Love Yourself: Tear.
As their first English-language single, “Dynamite” has given BTS the biggest stateside hit of their careers thus far, earning the group their first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and racking up a massive 17.5 million U.S. streams in the first week of its release. (The song is currently spending its second consecutive week at the top of the chart, having unseated Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s similarly record-breaking hit “WAP” from the lofty spot.)
“Dynamite” serves as the lead single off BTS’ upcoming follow-up to 2020’s Map of the Soul: 7, which featured hit singles “Black Swan” and “On.” This past July, the band also released Japanese LP Map of the Soul: 7 — The Journey, led by new track “Stay Gold.”
