‘WandaVision’ Unveils Soundtracks for First 2 Episodes, Feat. Themes by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez

Marvel Studios’ WandaVision unveiled the soundtracks for its first two episodes on Friday (Jan. 22) following its Disney+ premiere last week.

The digital soundtracks were scored by Christophe Beck (Frozen 2, Ant-Man and the Wasp), who used recording and mixing techniques as well as instruments specific to each period being represented in the series’ nine episodes. Oscar-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Frozen, Coco) wrote and produced the theme songs using musical styles spanning from the 1950s to the early 2000s.

“For each era, the music is a loving homage to the sitcom scores typical of the time period. This involved not only the instrumentation, but also the composition style,” Beck said in a statement.

Anderson-Lopez and Lopez capture the dawn of television for the theme of the first episode, while Beck describes the second episode’s theme as “sexier” and “flirtier” with its raunchy trombones and ‘60s-style RMI Rock-si-chord.

Says Anderson-Lopez of the first theme song: “We wanted to have an optimistic group of voices singing jazzily (though not too jazzily!) about the love between these two — and the main question of the first episode, whether two Avengers in love can pass for normal in a typical American suburb.”

Kevin Feige, Matt Shakman and Dave Jordan are credited as producers on the WandaVision Original Soundtrack album. The WandaVision: Episode 3 Original Soundtrack will be available on Jan. 29, and subsequent soundtracks will drop exactly one week after the corresponding episode airs on Disney+.
