Travis Greene’s ‘Won’t Let Go’ Tops Gospel Airplay Chart: ‘Even in Tragedy, God Is Faithful’

Travis Greene rolls up his fourth No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart, as “Won’t Let Go” ascends 2-1 on the list dated July 11.

In the tracking week ending July 5, the song gained by 11 percent in plays, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

It was penned solo by Greene, who pastors Forward City Church in Columbia, S.C., with his wife, Jacqueline Gyamfi Greene.

“I am thrilled that ‘Won’t Let Go’ has had the impact that it has,” Greene tells Billboard. “This song was written from my heart and recorded on the 30th anniversary of my father’s death. My life is proof that even in tragedy God is faithful. After releasing the song, I wasn’t aware that 2020 would be an unforgettable year for the entire world. This anthem is simply a gentle reminder that no matter where life may lead us, God is still in control and he will never let us go.”

Greene continues, “I must express my deepest gratitude to my savior and king Jesus, to every radio station that has played this record, to every listener who has requested it and to my dear wife and family. This is another monument of God’s faithfulness.”

“Won’t Let Go” marks Greene’s first Gospel Airplay No. 1 since “You Waited,” which led for nine frames starting in November 2017. That song followed “Made a Way” (three weeks at No. 1, beginning in December 2016) and “Intentional” (one week, January 2016).
