Styles recalls the golden highlights of filming the visual for Fine Line’s opener in the Amalfi Coast in Italy through a vintage camera filter. Between dashing on the street in a primarily unbuttoned white shirt to dipping in the water, the incredibly dapper pop superstar looks like he’s having the time of his life. He even flaunts his Italian skills at the end of the clip, when he greets locals hanging around the socially distant music video set.
But Styles located a different coast that was crucial to the song’s inception during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe last November. “I used to drive to the studio, and it’s the perfect PCH [Pacific Coast Highway] song. It’s like driving down the coast is what the song is for. It feels so Malibu to me,” he said at the time.
He released the “Golden” music video in October, which was directed by Ben and Gabe Turner.
