N’Klabe clocks its 17th top 10 on the Tropical Airplay chart (dated Oct. 10) as “Me Enamoré Como Nunca,” featuring Elysanij, surges 23-10 in its second week. (It debuted at No. 23 from only three days of airplay. Its jump to No. 10 came after its first full tracking week of airplay.)
It’s the biggest jump to the top 10 since Jennifer Lopez’s “NI Tú Ni Yo,” featuring Gente de Zona, also jumped 13 positions to the top 10 (16-3) in Aug. 2017.
“We feel very proud of all the hard work that has been put behind this song and blessed to be able to work with a young and talented artist like Eysanij,” Felo Torres, founding member of N’Klabe, tells Billboard. “This is our 17th top 10 on Tropical Airplay, and that proves the consistency and perseverance we work with, making good music that transcends, through generations.”
“Me Enamoré Como Nunca” debuted at No. 23 on the Oct. 1-dated tally from three days of play (in the week ending Sept. 27). It jumps to No. 10 after its first full tracking week, with a 369% increase in audience impressions earned in the week ending Oct. 4, according to Nielsen Music.
“Me Enamoré” is N’Klabe’s third consecutive Tropical Airplay top 10 off their album Nuestra Esquina. It follows “Pa’ Lante y Pa’ Tras,” with La Tribu de Abrante (No. 7 peak, Feb. 8) and “Probabilidad de Amor,” with Daniela Darcourt (No. 5, July 18).
“Salsa is stronger than ever, with an amazing surge of new young acts from Perú, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Dominican Republic,” Torres adds. “This perpetuates a genre, which already has legendary status.”
While N’Klabe collects its 17th top 10, which dates back to 2004’s No. 4 peaking “Navegándote,” Elysanij secures her first appearance on any airplay charts and first top 10.
