My Chemical Romance Reschedule North American Reunion Tour: See the Dates

After postponing their eagerly anticipated reunion tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic, My Chemical Romance announced the outing’s rescheduled dates on Tuesday (June 16). “As a band, we are deeply aware of the profound problems and crucial issues the world is facing right now,” the Gerard Way-led group wrote. “These issues are all life-changing, and we have them in the forefront of our minds on a regular basis. All of our focus should be on making the world better in every way we can.”

Realizing that fans are facing hard times and that the new dates might not work for everyone, they offered full refunds for any Killjoy who is unable to attend the new shows, which are slated to kick off with a Sept. 8, 2021, gig at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

“We would never want to distract from the challenges we are facing right now, but we feel it is the right thing to let people know that we have rescheduled our shows, so that we can offer people a refund on tickets in these difficult financial times.”

The tour was originally scheduled to kick off on Sept. 9 in Detroit and run through an Oct. 11 gig in Las Vegas, but with all touring on hold for the time being due to restrictions on large gatherings, the group was forced to delay the dates until 2021. “It is a long time away, and there is so much for all of us to do to make the world a better place in the interim,” added the band, who played their first show in more than seven years on Dec. 20 in Los Angeles. “We cannot wait to play for you. Take care of each other and yourselves. We will see you soon.”

The tour is now slated to end with a series of four show at The Forum in Los Angeles on Oct. 11, 12, 14 and 17. It was also announced on Tuesday that MCR will be one of the headliners of the rescheduled Riot Fest 2020 in Chicago, which will return in 2021 with Smashing Pumpkins, Run the Jewels, Pixies and Lupe Fiasco, among others.
