Morgan Wallen Faces Criticism For Partying Videos Ahead of ‘SNL’ Performance

Country singer Morgan Wallen is facing criticism after videos emerged of him seemingly partying at a packed bar — without a mask — in advance of his upcoming Saturday Night Live debut.

The TikTok videos appear to show the 27-year-old East Tennessee native drinking and kissing women in a packed room where few, if any, people are wearing masks.

Wallen is slated to play on SNL for the first time this weekend (Oct. 10) on a program hosted by comedian Bill Burr. The latest season of the long-running NBC show kicked off last weekend with Chris Rock and Megan Thee Stallion, marking a return to the studio after the cast was forced to complete the previous season from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show has instituted strict coronavirus precautions, with all performers, staff and audience members required to take rapid COVID-19 testing and non-performers required to wear masks at all times on set.

Spokespeople for Wallen and SNL had not returned requests for comment at press time and it did not appear that Wallen had responded to the controversy.

Wallen posted a picture over the weekend from the University of Alabama game against Texas A&M at Bryant-Denny Stadium and the videos, which are tagged to the football game, appear to show the singer hanging out a bar, taking pictures with unmasked fans and playing guitar at what looks like a crowded house party, where none of the other attendees in close proximity are wearing masks.
