Missy Elliott, JoJo and Billy Eichner have their hands on advance copies of The Meaning of Mariah Carey, but songwriter Diane Warren is still waiting for hers. The star were gloating about the memoir, which is out today (Sept. 29), in which Carey tells her perfectly pitched rags-to-riches story.
“ThankYou so much I can’t wait to read this!!May your ICONIC Legacy Continue to inspire many generations to come,” Elliott wrote, showing off the packaging the memoir came in, complete with golden glitter confetti and a box of tissues. Legendary songwriter Warren had one simple question about the book: “Where’s my copy B—h?!”
Mariah assured her it was on its way. “You should actually get the audio book, Diane!” Mariah responded to her frequent collaborator. “Our song plays an integral part in it (and your copy’s on the way b—h!).” JoJo, meanwhile, said she has ordered her copy and “cannot wait to get cozy and spend a weekend devouring this.”
“And just like that, a light through the darkness! THANK YOU @MariahCarey for this advance copy of THE MEANING OF MARIAH!” comedian Eichner tweeted. “And thanks for including tissues because I already cried watching you talk about LEONTYNE PRICE with @Oprah. Can’t wait to dive in! Congrats MC!!!” Bette Midler tweeted about how genius it was that the advances came with tissues and Mariah assured the Divine Miss M that “your memoir and tissues are with our trusted mail system.”
Carey also released the intro to the Audible audiobook version of the book, which opens with a preface in which Mariah re-iterates her philosophy of refusing to acknowledge time.
