Max George Supports The Wanted Bandmate Tom Parker During Cancer Battle: ‘You Will Conquer This’

Max George sent a message of support to his bandmate Tom Parker as the fellow The Wanted member battles an inoperable brain tumor.

“First of all … I think the bravery of Tom and [wife] Kelsey [Hardwick]  announcing their situation is incredible,” George tweeted in a message to Parker and his wife, who shared earlier this week that the 32-year-old singer is undergoing treatment for the tumor.

“It’s obviously a devastating and scary time… but for those who don’t know Tom, I will say this. There is nothing that he has ever given up on and has never taken no for an answer,” George wrote in the post — which also features pictures from the British boy band’s heyday — adding, “His heart is the size of a lion’s, and it is his drive and passion that has always led The Wanted and made sure we are looked after the right way. Speaking as a brother, a friend and a bandmate… I know that you will conquer this as you have every other challenge you have ever faced.”

“We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way. We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way,” said Parker in his post announcing the news; the singer has a daughter with his wife, who is expecting their second next month.

According to British media reports, Parker said the tumor is a stage four glioblastoma, for which he is currently receiving treatment. The cancer has been described as terminal and it came after Parker suffered a seizure in July and then another more serious one six weeks later, which resulted in a hospitalization.

Though the group went on hiatus in 2014, George assured Parker that they are all “on this journey together… and I can’t wait to get back on the stage with you and the boys and have a proper celebration when you’re better. You got this my man. I love you, Kels and all the family with all my heart and I’ll be right here.”
