Kygo & Donna Summer’s ‘Hot Stuff,’ Lady Gaga’s ‘911’ Hit Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Top 10

Kygo and Donna Summer storm onto Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Oct. 3) at No. 9 with “Hot Stuff.”

The reimagined disco classic gives the Norwegian DJ/producer his 19th top 10 (and the late legend her first), tying him with The Chainsmokers for the most since the chart’s January 2013 inception.

“Hot” drew 2.5 million U.S. streams and sold 5,000 downloads in the tracking week ending Sept. 24, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. The latter figure makes for a No. 1 launch on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart, where it’s Kygo’s eighth leader and Summer’s first.

Summer’s original “Hot” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in 1979, her second of four career leaders. Additionally in 1979, charting as a double sided single with “Bad Girls,” “Hot” scored seven weeks at No. 1 on Dance Club Songs; the track returned to the top two years ago in remixed form, as “Hot Stuff 2018,” and is the most recent of Summer’s 16 No. 1s, the ninth-most among all acts in the chart’s 44-year history.

“Hot” is the latest beloved song that Kygo has tackled with a new remix. “Higher Love,” with Whitney Houston, hit No. 2 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs in July 2019, while “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” with Tina Turner, debuted at its No. 7 high this August.

Also in the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs top 10, Lady Gaga vaults from No. 30 to No. 10 with “911,” following the Sept. 18 premiere of its official video. The surge gives the song a second stint in the top 10, following its No. 10 debut on June 13 (concurrent with the No. 1 entrance of parent LP Chromatica on the Billboard 200 and Top Dance/Electronic Albums). Gaga owns the most top 10s of all female acts in the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart’s history, with nine.

“911” also restarts in the top 10 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (No. 9; 3.8 million up 471%) and on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (No. 10; 1,000, up 1,110%).
