Juan Gabriel Estate Announces New Team With Plans for TV Series, Film, Concert Documentary & More

Honoring the legacy of Juan Gabriel, the late Mexican icon’s estate has announced plans for a new set of projects that includes a television series and a documentary of his final concert. The team behind the initiative includes Jampol Artist Management (Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin); Melinda Zanoni, managing member of Apollo Sports & Entertainment Law Group; and Business Management LAB’s Louis Barajas, CFO and business manager for all clients at the firm.

“My father’s legacy requires the very best representation, which is why we are delighted to have put this new team together for this next stage of his legacy,” said Gabriel’s son Ivan Aguilera, who is the sole beneficiary of the estate. “I have no doubt that my father’s and our family’s legacy are in the right hands. We decided to work with JAM because of how they treat estates as being part of their own family and are thrilled with the fact that my father will be the first Latino to be represented by them.”

The new projects include a documentary filmed during Juan Gabriel’s last concert on Aug. 26, 2016, in Los Angeles, a merchandise line, television series, feature film, theatrical stage show, wax figure with Museo de Cera, books, tribute shows and more to be announced soon, according to a press release.

“Juan Gabriel is one of the biggest legends in music history,” said Jeff Jampol, CEO of JAM, in a statement. “To us, it is paramount that these icons be protected, their work exposed to future generations, and their millions of fans worldwide be respected and cherished.”

The chart-topping artist, who successfully crossed over to pop from regional Mexican but not without first popularizing the ranchera ballad, charted 31 albums on the Top Latin Albums chart since it began in 1993 — well after his career started in the early 1970s. He was also a leader at the box office: In 2015, Gabriel notched the highest-grossing Latin tour of 2015, raking in $31.8 million for 32 shows in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
