In the midst of Pride month, Joy Huerta of Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy shared a sweet tribute message to her baby girl Noah on social media.
“Your existence is the fruit of resistance and resilience of those who started this fight for us,” she captioned the photo in which her daughter is rocking an adorable set of rainbow joggers. “You are the fruit of pure love and hope for so many. You are the driving force for mommy and me for many others like you and much more like us.”
She continued: “Today and every day we proudly celebrate our diversity. But also making it clear that there is still a long, long way to go to achieve equal human rights. And that we will continue to fight, resisting with our heads held high so that you, your children, and theirs will live with more freedom. You, beautiful little girl, are our pride forever.”
With Pride Month wrapping up, Joy curated an exclusive playlist for Billboard, spotlighting six songs that not only make her feel empowered and motivated but will get everyone on their feet.
Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber, “I Don’t Care”
“Our dance parties at home begin with this song. My daughter loves it and now, because of her, we love it too.”
Elton John, “I’m Still Standing”
“Another song that can’t be left out when we start the party at home is this song.”
Whitney Houston, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”
“She will always be one of my favorite and this song simply makes me want to get up and have fun, wherever I’m at.”
Mon Laferte, “Amarrame”
“Mon is a woman who I love and admire a lot. She sings this song with my adored Juanes. I could listen to this song over and over again without getting tired and wanting more.”
Selena Quintanilla, “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom”
“This woman is my go-to no matter how I’m feeling.”
“This song is my biggest motivation when I’m working out and I continue singing it all day long, fully motivated!”
