Nearly two years after Jimmie Allen released his acclaimed debut full-length, the country star brought one of its biggest hits, the breezy “Make Me Want To,” to the 2020 ACM Awards on Wednesday night (Sept. 16).
Taking the stage at the legendary Bluebird Cafe, Allen commanded the tiny stage with two accompanying musicians, grinning throughout the performance of his country hit and sporting a festive outfit accented by leather pants. Christmas lights twinkled behind him, and Allen’s sensual voice shone bright in the empty venue.
Allen’s Mercury Lane album was released in October 2018, and has spawned a pair of country top 10 hits, “Best Shot” and “Make Me Want To,” both of which cracked the Hot 100 chart. Earlier this year, Allen dropped the Bettie James EP, which featured collaborations with Nelly, Noah Cyrus, Tim McGraw and Brad Paisley, among others.
Along with taking the ACMs stage, Allen will perform as part of Billboard’s Live At-Home series on Thursday (Sept. 17). Click here for full details.
The ACM Awards are produced by dick clark productions, which is owned by MRC Media, the parent company of Billboard.
