J Balvin, FKA Twigs, Grimes, TWICE’s Chaeyoung & More Narrate Google Arts & Culture’s ‘Art Zoom’ Series

J Balvin, Grimes, FKA twigsTWICE’s Chaeyoung, Ellie Goulding and The 1975’s Matty Healy lend their voices as narrators for the second installation of Google Arts & Culture’s Art Zoom series.

Fans can embark on a different kind of tour with their favorite artists telling the stories behind the world’s most famous masterpieces. And by using Google’s giga-pixel Art Camera, they can zoom in on any artwork with brushstroke-level detail.

The new Art Zoom series begins with the Renaissance works coming out of Europe, with Grimes’ lively exploration of Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s apocalyptic The Fall of Rebel Angels. Meanwhile, MAGDALENE singer FKA twigs appropriately presents Artemisia Gentileschi’s Mary Magdalene in Ecstasy.

English popstar Goulding muses about love, peace and calm through Julie Mehretu’s Mind Breath Drawings, Cy Twombly’s La caduta di Iperione o Secondo viaggio in Italia and Yves Klein’s Large Blue Anthropometry. And the U.K. pop-rock band leader gives his notes on Piet Mondrian’s Grande composizione A con nero, rosso, grigio, giallo e blu and how it planted the seeds for the internet’s “utopian dream of connecting and uniting people.”

The Colores reggaeton singer meets Latin music fans in Medellín, Colombia to simultaneously unpack the joyful colors and gloomy chaos behind Fernando Botero’s 20 de Julio. And for the final stop, K-pop stans transport to Korea to hike to the top of Yoo Youngkuk’s Mountain with TWICE’s Chaeyoung.
