Iann Dior Hits No. 1 on Emerging Artists Chart, Thanks to ‘Mood’

Iann Dior rises 2-1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart (dated Sept. 19) to become the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time, thanks largely to 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” on which he’s featured.

The song rises 8-6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with 24 million U.S. streams (up 2 percent), 23.3 million radio audience impressions (up 46 percent) and 8,000 downloads sold (up 2 percent) in the latest tracking week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The track, whose profile was initially boosted by activity on TikTok, also logs its third week at No. 1 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.

24kGoldn himself ruled Emerging Artists for a week in August before graduating from the ranking when “Mood” entered the Hot 100’s top 25.

The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have, in lead roles, notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s as leads on Billboard’s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.

Dior succeeds JP Saxe atop Emerging Artists. Saxe ruled for two weeks on the strength of his single “If the World Was Ending,” featuring Julia Michaels, and now ranks at No. 2. The song places at No. 30 on the Hot 100 after reaching No. 27 last week.

Among other Emerging Artists chart moves, Nashville-based All Them Witches debut at No. 9 as the group’s new LP Nothing as the Ideal arrives at No. 25 on Hard Rock Albums with 4,000 equivalent album units.
