Even Grammy Camp Will Be Virtual This Year: See Which Guest Artists Are Lined Up

It takes more than a global pandemic to shut down Grammy Camp. The annual summer program, now in its 16th year, will be a “virtual camp experience” for the first time due to the shutdown of the Grammy Museum and most schools in light of COVID-19.

A total of 84 high school students from 19 states have been selected for the camp, which will be held via digital conferencing July 14-18.

Several artists have committed to appear as guests, including Bryce Vine, Kat Cunning, Moon Taxi and three past Grammy nominees — OK Go and two members of Plain White T’s — Tom Higgerson and Tim Lopez.

“While Grammy Camp will be a virtual experience this summer, we still intend for it to remain one of the most immersive summer camps for high school students interested in a career in music,” said Michael Sticka, president of the Grammy Museum.

GRAMMY Camp has historically taken place in Los Angeles as a five-day summer music experience. The program features eight music career tracks: audio engineering, electronic music production, music business, music journalism, songwriting, video production & motion graphics, vocal performance, and instrumental performance. All tracks culminate in virtual media projects, recordings, and/or performances.

OK Go won the 2006 Grammy for best short form music video for “Here It Goes Again” and has been nominated two more times in that category. Plain White T’s received a 2007 nod for best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals for “Hey There Deliliah,” which was a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Higgerson was also nominated for song of the year for writing the song.

Several Grammy Camp alumni, notably Maren Morris, have gone on to enjoy success as recording artists or in the recording industry.
