Emerging Rapper Bris Shot and Killed at 24

Up-and-coming rapper Bris (born Christopher Treadwell) was shot and killed on Sunday (June 21) in his hometown of Sacramento.

The 24-year-old MC was found by officers with a life-threatening gunshot would and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Sacramento Police Department.

Though the Sacramento PD didn’t name Treadwell, KCRA confirmed the rapper’s identity, with the police noting that there were reports of shots fired in the area and officers determined that there was a “solo vehicle collision” that happened before the shooting.

Police said homicide detectives were conducting a neighborhood canvass to search for evidence, with the circumstances leading to Treadwell’s death still unclear; Sacramento PD had not responded to Billboard’s request for comment at press time. No arrests had been made at press time, according to the Sacramento PD statement.

The “Panhandling” rapper released the 10:42 mixtape last year with G-Man and he dropped the new single, “Need Hammy,” last week.
