Fans have been waiting 14 long years for a new Dixie Chicks album, and on Thursday (June 11) the country pop trio finally gave them the news they’ve been eagerly anticipating. In a series of three posts in which their faces are Photoshopped onto images of ice skaters, the band announced that Gaslighter is due out on July 17.
There was no commentary or further information about the collection — and a spokesperson for the Chicks said there was no additional comment at press time — but following the delay of the album due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was welcome news. The group recently released a second single, “Julianna Calm Down,” which followed on the heels of the collection’s urgent title track in March.
Gaslighter is the follow-up to 2006’s Taking the Long Way.
