Carrie Underwood confirmed on Thursday (Sept. 24) that’s she’s about to get into the spirit of the season with her first-ever holiday special.
While a premiere date has yet to be announced, the country star will be starring in the HBO Max special to celebrate the release of her upcoming holiday album, My Gift, which is set to be released Sept. 25 via Capitol Records Nashville. The album has already been preceded by gospel-tinged original “Let There Be Peace.”
During the special, the American Idol champ will perform with a live orchestra and backing choir, belting out a variety of traditional holiday hymns along with more original songs off her LP.
“The journey of writing and recording this album started last year when I finished my tour and we could have never anticipated the circumstances we would be in this year,” Underwood said in a statement about the upcoming program. “Creating this album has been good for my heart, and I’m thrilled to get to share it with the world and to bring it to life with Playtone and HBO Max.”
Earlier this month, the singer made history by tying with Thomas Rhett for entertainer of the year at the 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards, becoming the first and only female artist to win the prestigious award three times. Meanwhile, her most recent country album, 2018’s Cry Pretty, just rang in its second anniversary.
