Brandi Carlile Covers Tears for Fears’ ‘Mad World,’ Urges People to Vote

Brandi Carlile is bringing shedding light on the “Mad World” we’re living in.

The singer took to Twitter on Monday (Sept. 14) to share a cover of the Tears for Fears’ 1983 hit, part of her Sept. 13 livestream re-imagining of her 2009 album Give Up the Ghost. In the clip, she’s seen at a fairy-light lit piano with guitars and her Joni Mitchell tribute show poster behind her. Accompanied by a cellist, she belts the emotional tune.

“It’s a mad world, but we’re in this together,” she says at the end of the cover. “Vote.”
