Justin Vernon is honoring Ruth Bader Ginsburg while encouraging voting in his home state of Wisconsin.
In the latest installment of his “Visit With Vernon” campaign, the Bon Iver star chatted (safely and six feet apart) with an undecided Wisconsin voter about why voting matters this year, particularly in the swing state. The series is a part of the “For Wisconsin” voting initiative by Vernon and Aaron Dessner’s Eaux Claires Festival.
Amid the conversation, Vernon performed his new song “Your Honor,” which he shares he wrote “right after we heard about Ruth Bader Ginsburg passing.”
“She just opened so many doors for so many people that people don’t even understand or realize,” he continued. “Her service to the nation I think is still somehow underestimated, but I thought I’d play it for you.”
The Supreme Court Justice died at age 87 on Sept. 18 at her home in Washington, of complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer.
