Bobby Shmurda Denied Parole & Will Remain in Prison Until 2021

Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda (real name Ackquille Pollard) was denied parole and will remain behind bars until the end of next year.

Following his interview last Tuesday (Sept. 15) with the Board of Parole, he was denied release and given a hold until the maximum expiration of his sentence on December 11, 2021, Billboard can confirm. His latest parole hearing was originally set for mid-August until it was pushed back one month.

The “Hot N—a” rapper has been serving time since Dec. 2014, when he was initially charged with conspiracy to murder, weapons possession and reckless endangerment. He was sentenced to seven years in prison after accepting a deal to plead guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession.

Back in 2018, Shmurda dialed into This is 50 for a phone interview where he spoke about his possible release in 2020. “When I get out, we’re going to f— everything up. I got two years, 2020,” the 26-year-old rapper said at the time. “You know how that sh– goes. I like to see real n—as doing their thing with more constructive sh–. I hope a lot of motherf—ers learn from me.”

His mother Leslie Pollard told TMZ just last July that once her son was released, he was ready to hit the recording studio and work on his music again. She also said he wanted to produce a documentary about his life as a tool to educate troubled youth.
