Blake Shelton Says He Had a ‘Blast’ Quarantining at Home With Gwen Stefani

In an interview with SiriusXM’s Storme Warren, Blake Shelton said he had a “blast” locking down with lady love Gwen Stefani during the COVID-19 quarantine, and that’s what inspired their song “Happy Anywhere.”

While it’s true that sheltering in place for the past four months has been very hard on most of us, Shelton said he and Stefani realized they’re actually even more in love than ever before.

Annoyingly cute, right? “You wake up and look at the news and you’re starting to realize that this quarantine is not working out too well for a lot of people who are finding out they didn’t, they don’t like being around each other as much as they thought they did, which is terrible,” he said. “She [Stefani] and I have experienced the opposite, you know, and we’ve been having a blast. And I think it’s because, we’ve literally, since our early, early twenties, both of us, kind of been, you know… our careers around.”

Don’t get Blake wrong, nobody loves being stuck at home indefinitely and missing out on seeing friends and family and going out, but for a guy who’s been hustling most of his life and can’t remember the last time he spent more than two weeks in a row at home, it was kind of liberating. “So, this has been an eye opener. I told my manager, I said, ‘Man, you might have a hard time getting me to go back on the road again, actually,’” he joked.

Shelton also gave an update on the next season of The Voice, which, like most everything else, is in a holding pattern for now as producers try to figure out how to make filming safe for the cast, crew and contestants. “We are supposed to start filming our blind auditions for season 19 in about two weeks, I think,” he said. “Man, but the waves of bad news that keep coming out of California, especially southern California.” He’s hoping the show’s producers can create a “safe situation” for the team, but right now he’s in a wait-and-see posture.

Stefani and Shelton also debuted “Happy Anywhere,” their sequel to their hit ballad “Nobody But You,” this week, putting their groovy corona vibes on display for all to hear in the sweet homage to true love.
