BLACKPINK to Kick Off YouTube’s New Music Series ‘RELEASED,’ and Just Dropped a ‘Lovesick Girls’ Teaser

BLACKPINK is continuing the major ramp-up to their highly anticipated debut LP, The Album. The K-pop supergroup will be the first subject of a new YouTube Originals music series titled RELEASED, which will premiere Thursday night (Oct. 1) at 11:45 p.m. ET, just minutes before the album drops.

RELEASED will air on Thursdays, right before artists release new music at midnight ET. The series’ 16 episodes will reveal exclusive performances and announcements, and according to the trailer for BLACKPINK’s episode tomorrow, secrets from the world’s biggest artists.

“We are honored and happy to be the first on YouTube’s new original content RELEASED. We hope that it will be a great opportunity to celebrate our first full album The Album with many global music fans,” the K-pop girl group said in a press statement.

Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa also shared a 16-second teaser clip for the world premiere of their “Lovesick Girls” music video Tuesday (Sept. 29). They announced the follow-up single to their hits”How You Like That” and “Ice Cream” with Selena Gomez on Sunday with a teaser poster and concept video.

BLACKPINK has dominated YouTube’s platform in recent months, with “How You Like That” seizing the No. 1 spot as YouTube’s Global Top Song of Summer, and their “Ice Cream” music video debuting at No. 1 on YouTube’s Global Music Videos Chart.

“Thursday nights on YouTube are going to be mic drop moments,” said Lyor Cohen, Global Head of Music for YouTube, in a statement. “YouTube Music is all about connecting artists and fans and this Original series brings the world’s biggest artists and their newest videos and projects straight to the fans right before they’re released. We feel lucky to kick off this series with BLACKPINK, arguably the biggest artist in the world.”
