Ben Platt Shows Off His Stunning Voice During 2020 GLAAD Media Awards

After opening with some hilarious riffing on the mess that is 2020 from hosts Fortune Feimster and Gina Yashere, the 31st annual GLAAD Media Awards brought out Ben Platt (virtually!) for its first performance of the evening on Thursday (July 30).

The Politician and Dear Evan Hansen actor sang “Honest Man,” a song he wrote from his 2019 album Sing to Me Instead with a very personal story behind it. “I wrote it at a time when I was seeing someone who was in the closet, and I was really trying to encourage him to be himself and be comfortable with who he was. This song is kind of an anthem for that.”

Singing from his house, Platt demonstrated that if you have an incredible vocal range and control over each note, you don’t need any fancy production – you can still get those jaws on the floor.
