Barry Weiss’ RECORDS Hires Ash Bowers to Lead New Nashville Office

Barry Weiss’ RECORDS is opening an office in Nashville this month, the company announced today (Sept. 21). Ash Bowers will serve as president.

Bowers, who co-founded the Nashville-based artist management company Wide Open Music, was previously signed to Broken Bow imprint Stoney Creek Records as a country artist. He also worked as a songwriter and producer, scoring cuts with Matt Stell, Jimmie Allen, Keith Urban, Montgomery Gentry and Dustin Lynch. This is Bowers’ first role as a label executive.

Joining Bowers at RECORDS Nashville are veteran radio promotion executives Jamice Jennings and Andy Elliott, who have been named co-heads of promotion. Jennings boards the company from in2une Nashville, where she served as vp of promotion; she has also worked at Big Machine. Elliott was most recently vp of promotion at Garth Brooks’ Pearl Records. Prior to that, he held roles at Curb Records and Arista Nashville, where he was national director of promotion.

Also joining the RECORDS Nashville team is longtime country radio promotion executive Keith Gale of Good Company Entertainment, who will serve as a consultant. Gale was already part of the team supporting RECORDS artists Chris Bandi and Matt Stell, the latter of whom hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart with his breakout single “Prayed for You” last year.

In addition to Stell and Bandi, the RECORDS Nashville roster includes Jennifer Smestad, Lathan Warlick, Chase Martin and Dylan Brady.

“We’re already stocked with talented artists, a killer promotion team and a legendary record guy at the helm with Barry Weiss, how great is that?” said Bowers in a release. “I’m very excited about what we can build here in Nashville and the unique, authentic talent in Country music and beyond to be discovered.”

Weiss added, “Ash has experienced success in all aspects of the music business as an artist, producer, manager and songwriter. And while the role of label President may seem like a new title for him, there’s no one more fit to carry forth our fierce independent spirit and build upon RECORDS success in this market.”

Founded in 2015 and based in New York City, RECORDS is home to artists including Noah Cyrus, Lennon Stella and breakout San Francisco rapper 24kGoldn, whose single “Mood” feat. iann dior rose to No. 6 on the Hot 100 this week.
