WK Entertainment has appointed Anaid Quijada as vp marketing and business development for Colombian star Carlos Vives. Quijada was most recently marketing director for Universal Music Latin Entertainment, heading all marketing strategy for UMLE’s acts in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and was named to Billboard’s Women in Music list in 2019.
In her new post, she’ll not only oversee marketing and business development for Vives’ music and tours, but also for his multiple endeavors, including his record label, Gaira Muisca Local; his music school in Colombia, Río Grande; his publications; and his Tras La Perla Foundation, which works to improve life conditions and infrastructure of Vives’ native city of Santa Marta and its surrounding areas.
Vives is managed by Walter Kolm at WK Entertainment. Aside from being one of Latin music’s biggest touring acts, he’s notched 13 top 10s and five No. 1s on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart as well as three No. 1 albums on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. His latest, Cumbiana (Sony US Latin), won the Latin Grammy last year for best contemporary tropical album, while his “Canción para Rubén” with Ruben Blades won best tropical song and his documentary El Mundo Perdido de Cumbiana won best longform music video.
