Academy of Country Music Awards Set a Date For 2021 Ceremony

We’re still two months away from the 55th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, which are set for Sept. 16, but the academy has already selected a date for their 56th awards fest — April 18, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET.

That air date is a Sunday night, which is considered prime placement. This year’s rescheduled show is set to air on a Wednesday.

A statement from the academy emphasizes that the 2021 show “will broadcast LIVE” (caps theirs). The show has aired on CBS since 1998. Further information about the 2021 show, including host, performers and location, will be announced in the coming months.

Keith Urban, the ACM’s reigning entertainer of the year, is set to host the show on Sept. 16. He was first announced as host on Feb. 27, when the show was slated to be broadcast from Las Vegas on April 5. The show was postponed because of COVID-19, and will now be held in Nashville for the first time in its history. It is set to broadcast from three iconic country music locations — the Ryman Auditorium, the Grand Ole Opry House and the Bluebird Café.

The Academy of Country Music Awards is produced for television by dick clark productions, which is owned by Valence Media, which also owns Billboard. R.A. Clark, Barry Adelman, Mark Bracco and Amy Thurlow are executive producers. Damon Whiteside is executive producer for the Academy of Country Music.
