A Sweet Arrival for Ozuna: ‘Caramelo’ Debuts in Top 10 on Hot Latin Songs Chart

Ozuna captures his first top 10 debut of 2020, and his second new top 10 of the year overall, “Caramelo” arrives at No. 7 on the Hot Latin Songs chart (dated June 27). It joins his earlier top 10, “Mamacita” with Black Eyed Peas and J.Rey Soul, which holds at No. 3.

Ozuna last debuted in the top 10 with “China,” his collaboration with Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, Karol G and J Balvin, which opened at No. 2 in August 2019. It later spent 12 weeks at No. 1.

“Caramelo” (which translates to Candy) opens in the top 10 mainly on the strength of streaming activity. The Hot Latin Songs chart blends airplay, streaming data and digital sales. “Caramelo” registered 3.9 million U.S. streams in the week ending June 18, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, which yields a No. 10 debut on the Latin Streaming Songs chart.

As “Caramelo” opens in the top 10, Ozuna collects his 23rd top 10 on Hot Latin Songs (he now has as many top 10s as Gloria Estefan). His top 10s date back to “Dile Que Tú Me Quieres,” which peaked at No. 8 in April 2017. The chart began in 1986.

“Caramelo” follows Ozuna’s only other debut on Hot Latin Songs this year: “Mamacita,” with the Black Eyed Peas and J.Rey Soul. It stands at No. 3 on the current chart.

With “Caramelo’s” arrival on the chart, Ozuna collects a total of 76 entries on Hot Latin Songs, tying Daddy Yankee for the second-most hits on the list. They trail only Bad Bunny who leads with an impressive 95 total entries.

Elsewhere, “Caramelo” makes a No. 32 opening on Latin Airplay with 3 million in audience impressions earned in the week ending June 21, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
